CBD (cannabidiol) is one of the many chemical compounds found in the leaves, flowers and resins of the cannabis plant. It is a naturally occurring substance that encourages a feeling of calm and relaxation. Research has found that it can aid pain management, reduce anxiety and improve sleep and skin health. It is not intoxicating and not psychoactive in the sense that it does not give you a “high”.

CBD impacts receptors all over the body as part of our own ‘endocannabinoid system’, which works in conjunction with the immune system, the endocrine system and various other physiological systems. This produces a range of outcomes including hormone production or inhibition. CB receptors in the body are triggered by CBD and other cannabinoids, which in turn, produce cellular, biochemical changes known to regulate the immune response, reduce inflammation, relax muscles, lower blood pressure, dilate bronchial passages and normalise overstimulated nerves. CBD works with the brain’s in-built mechanism of protection and regeneration to repair damaged nerves and brain cells, acting as your own natural repair kit.

CBD is found IN cannabis. It is NOT cannabis. Cannabis comes from the Cannabaceae family. Three species are widely recognized: Cannabis sativa, Cannabis indica and Cannabis ruderalis. Cannabis Sativa is more commonly known as Hemp. Hemp contains CBD but exceptionally low levels of the psychoactive ingredient Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

The CBD in Liift Water is a Cannabis Sativa (hemp) Extract, that is water-soluble and broad spectrum containing zero THC.

The benefits of CBD in the non-medical world, i.e. for consumers trying to follow a balanced, healthy lifestyle – are based largely on anecdotal data. What that means is that there has not been the breadth and depth of technical studies conducted to statistically prove its capabilities. That said, the anecdotal data supporting the health and wellness benefits for CBD is mounting with each passing day across the globe. They cannot be ignored. What is intriguing about CBD is that the individual’s response seems to be very much that – individual; with the reported benefits, ranging from increasing the ability to relax, improved alertness, better quality of sleep, reduction in stress levels, improved muscle recovery and many more.

Liift Water contains 10 mg of Hemp extracted water-soluble, broad spectrum CBD in every bottle (and zero THC). They are great tasting, refreshing still drinks and a convenient way to add a measured amount of CBD to your daily intake.

CBD is for everyone (well, adults). If you’re in need of a better night’s sleep, some help managing your anxiety symptoms, a natural pain reliever or an effective post-workout product to aid muscle recovery, then CBD may be for you.

CBD is NOT recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women. Also if you are taking medication or have a severe medical condition, you should consult a doctor before trying any CBD product.

Full-spectrum CBD is a whole-plant extract that contains all naturally occurring compounds found in the cannabis plant, including terpenes, essential oils and other cannabinoids. One of these compounds is THC, which is known for its psychoactive effects. The full-spectrum of cannabinoids, terpenes and essential oils extracted from the plant, work together to intensify the therapeutic benefits of each individual cannabinoid. This is commonly referred to as the “entourage effect”.

Liift drinks contain broad spectrum CBD distillate extracted from the Hemp plant (Cannabis Sativa L). Broad spectrum contains no THC but it still contains high levels of CBD and the other cannabinoids responsible for the entourage effect so you get to enjoy all of the positive benefits of CBD without any of the effects of THC.

CBD isolate goes one step further in the purification process, separating CBD from the other compounds to give you an ingredient that is at least 99% cannabidiol. It contains minimal or no THC, dependant on the source. The downside to CBD Isolate is that the CBD is on its own (i.e. isolated) and there is therefore no entourage effect, thus reducing its capabilities.

Liift CBD water is made by adding a water-soluble version of broad-spectrum CBD distillate, to give an active CBD content of 10 mg per 330 ml serving. Broad spectrum CBD has many of the pros of full-spectrum CBD but does not contain THC. The broad spectrum CBD can be purified by a process known as fractional distillation to yield what is known as broad spectrum CBD distillate. As the distillate form of CBD is not only water soluble, but is also nearly flavourless, it can be easily incorporated into the manufacture of soft drinks.

CBD interacts with our body’s natural endocannabinoid system (ECS). This system manages physiological processes including appetite and mood. By stimulating the ECS, CBD directly affects our hormone levels. These hormones include, but are not exclusive to, insulin, cortisol and melatonin.

Cortisol is the hormone responsible for managing our stress response. It mediates our fight or flight response. Increased levels of cortisol can result in mood swings, weight gain, high blood pressure and increased levels of anxiety. Research has found that the presence of CBD reduces cortisol levels suggesting that it can make you feel less stressed, and in turn help to manage the symptoms of anxiety.
